IT'S OCTOBER, BITCHES
It is October. That means it is cold.  Kind of drizzly.  Generally miserable.  Not to mention, the days are short… and so is my temper. Thankfully, pumpkin beer exists to temper my… temper.  <__< I totally forgot that I had this Harpoon UFO Pumpkin Ale stashed in the back of my fridge.  I was planning on doing some really dismal beeresearch tonight on gluten-free beers (I...

Wow it has been along time since the last post....
The cherry chocolate stout and the peppermint tea chocolate porter have both been bottled and consumed, with positive results. We’ve brewed an orange creamsicle tea wit, which we are bottling this Friday. We are also planning to brew a vanilla bourbon tea porter. I bought a converted cooler mash tun off craigslist, so we can finally try the all-grain wit recipe I bought a few months...

Update!
We bottled the cherry conciliate stout on Saturday and only had enough to fill 39 bottles. We used all 5oz of priming sugar though, so I hope we don’t wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of glass exploding. We also racked the porter onto cocoa nibs and will bottle it in a week or two, depending on our mood. Very excited to try these two brews!

Our (mostly) extract belgian wit is ready for...
Mary and I will sit down and actually review the beer ourselves (I have a review of our porter written that I need to type up), but I just wanted to share some comments we got from the home brewer’s club last night. I went to a Tampa Bay BEERS meeting last night and after listening to a speech from Jeff from Boulder Brewing, everyone got up and went around trying everyone else’s...

Okay beer lovers,
I wrote several reviews in a little notebook and then promptly lost the little notebook, so when I do find it, expect an onslaught of reviews. Until then, Mary is gone for a week on a roadtrip and may or may not return home with beer reviews from four or five different states. I have one that should be up tomorrow. The year is young, and we have many beers still to try. much love, c.

BrewDog Dogma Ale
Brewer: BrewDog Brewery, Scotland Beer Name: Dogma Style: Ale ABV: 7.8% A picture of this beer and its bottle are coming soon.  As of now, they are on a memory card floating around somewhere in Sweden. I bought this beer months ago from the Whole Foods Market in South Tampa, but I bought the 660 mL bottle, so it’s huge, which is why it took me so long to drink (I needed to find...

Brewz Crewz 2011, Lakeland, Florida
Last year, my forestry professor invited me and a bunch of the forestry students out to the Brewz Crewz in Lakeland, Florida.  Despite its unfortunate name (and despite that fact that it took place in Lakeland of all places; Christ!), I forked out the $35 with the promise that I’d get unlimited beer samples from a wide range of beer vendors, many of them Florida brewers.  I was not...

Scaldis Noel
Brewer: Brasserie Dubuisson, Pipaix, Belgium Beer Name: Scaldis Noël, or Bush De Noël Style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale ABV: 12.0% (!!) I met an old friend for dinner and drinks on 12 December at Mr. Dunderbak’s. I got there a bit early, and saw that they had a list of seasonal beers on draft. Scaldis Noël was one, so I promptly ordered it, mostly because the name is basically awesome...
